Weather and general overview for Somerset
Heavy rain over the weekend resulted in surface water in several places, but no Trigger Points were activated as not all conditions were met. About 10mm of rainfall is expected today and 5mm tomorrow. So we are seeing an improving picture. We have staff out checking culverts, trash screens and clearing blockages, our incident room remains manned and we are still on tide watch in seven locations. Yesterday we aided Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue with sandbagging at Dinhams, Ruishton, after Cheats Road flooded. Surface water was pumped away. Pumping stations
The pumping stations at Northmoor, Saltmoor, Stanmoor, Stockmoor and Westonzoyland are running. With the situation improving we will be able to run Currymoor, Huish Episcopi, Long Load, Westover and West Sedgemoor once river levels reduce in the next 24-36 hours. A portable pump is being deployed at Aller Drove as a precaution. We are not expecting any flooding issues to properties in the area but if needed the pump can be operated quickly.
Spillways
Spillways at Allermoor, Beasley’s and Hookbridge are running. We will open Monksleaze Clyce when levels reduce.
