About CCS (Carers Support Service)
Community Council for Somerset (CCS) supports people who live and work in Somerset communities. They do this through a range of diverse projects which bring together people who care about local community life in Somerset. One of their projects is the Carers Support Service.  This service is for those who regularly look after someone in a caring capacity. The Somerset Carers Service can support carers by offering advice and guidance. Caring for another person is very rewarding, but can be overwhelming and lonely at times.    Somerset Carers Service can help link individuals to groups & events in their area. It also finds facts and information that will help the person that is being cared for with their particular needs. What are they looking for?

People who are happy to help with practical tasks and are good listeners.

Practical Considerations

Sessions are either weekly or monthly depending on the group you choose to support.

We would like to invite you to attend the Launch of The Heads Up Training Room on Friday 26th April at 2pm at Heads Up, Upper Breach, South Horrington, Wells BA5 3QG

Specialist mental health trainers Carolyn Smith & Colin Nash have almost 50 years of experience between them within mental health services, many of them at senior levels in the NHS, local Authorities and a national mental health charity. They will be offering a wide range of mental health training exclusively on behalf of Heads Up.

The government commissioned a report last year called Thriving at Work. This tells us that poor mental health at work is costing employers between £33 and £42 billion a year across the UK – in Somerset alone that is between £132 and £150 million a year.

Please join Carolyn and Colin at the launch event to learn more about the mental health training courses that they will be offering, and how this will benefit our local community.
