Subject: Save the date! Somerset CCG Annual General Meeting

We’re busy planning for this year’s Annual General Meeting. We will be sharing more news about it and how you can get involved over the next few months. But in the meantime, we’d love for you to save the date in your diaries.

It will take place on Tuesday 17 September 2019 between 4pm and 7pm at Westlands Leisure Complex, Yeovil, BA20 2DD.

Subject: Taunton Stroke Club

Taunton Stroke Club meets on Tuesdays from 10am-2.30pm at Compass Wellbeing Centre, Unit 7, Belvedere Road, TA1 1BH.

Anyone who has had a stroke can attend and referrals can be made from hospitals, social workers, community carers, family and friends.

We aim to help members meet other stroke survivors who may have similar difficulties and give their carers a much needed break once a week.

Transport for Somerset bring some members (at a charge) while others are driven to the centre by carers, family members.

Coffee, tea and notices from the Committee begin the day. Members and volunteers pay for a hot lunch which the centre cook and we all enjoy.

Activities include table top games, Boccia, music groups, choirs, slide shows and craft days. Visits from canine partners, invited speakers and reflexology and pilates sessions also take place regularly. There are also twice yearly trips to meet other local stroke clubs as well as quarterly trips to a local bowling club.

To find out more visit the Stroke Association website which lists the contact details for club (Julia Hammett).
