Subject: Join us at our next Governing Body meeting
Our next public Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group Governing Body meeting will take place on Thursday 25 July at 9.30am at the Canalside in Bridgwater (TA6 6LQ).
Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting to listen to the items being discussed. There is an opportunity to ask questions at the beginning of the meeting.
The agenda and papers will be available on our website about a week before.
Subject: Jargon buster updated
The NHS uses lots of jargon and new acronyms come into use all the time. From engagement activities our lay users, patients and the public tell us it is sometimes difficult to understand what is being discussed. In meetings staff sometimes slip into using jargon without realising, which makes it difficult for lay users or members of the public to speak up and ask what the jargon means.
Our lay members and staff have helped us create a jargon buster and we’ve recently reviewed and updated it. The updated version is now available on our website

Subject: Congratulations to Mary Robertson, NHS Parliamentary Awards
Mary Robertson, South Petherton Community Hospital League of Friends, has been announced as the South West regional finalist in the Lifetime Achievement category in the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2019.
Mary joined South Petherton Community Hospital as Ward Sister in 1975, became Matron in 1977, and Hospital Manager in 1988.
Mary was Chairman of the League of Friends when the old hospital was condemned. With her colleague Dorothy Hudson they launched an ultimately successful local drive to create a new hospital dedicated to stroke rehabilitation and community care.
The national winners were announced in the House of Commons on Wednesday 10 July. While Mary did not win the national award, it is a real triumph to be the south west regional winner.
Congratulations and well done to Mary on this fantastic achievement and her dedication and commitment to the NHS.
