Apologies if you are already aware but we thought you might like to know about an exercise that we are carrying out regarding our pumps at Dunball.
If you pass Dunball on the outskirts of Bridgwater in the next few days, you’ll see activity as we test our procedures for installing temporary pumps and pipework on the newly installed platform. Dunball is one of our 10 trigger points where we would install pumps before fully opening Monksleaze Clyce in extreme flood conditions.
*This is an exercise only*. We routinely carry out exercises to make sure we’re as prepared for flooding as possible. This particular exercise is part of the handover from our contractors, TVO Kier, following the work done at the Dunball site in recent months. It also ties in with the launch of our annual flood awareness campaign (details can be found at ow.ly/ST4DU).
Over the next few days we will be installing two pumps to test the pipe work on the site, as well as testing the site layout for installation, checking control panels, and monitoring the discharge into the Parrett Estuary.
This exercise will run from tomorrow, 4 November, until next Monday 9 November and you’ll see us working on the site during this time.
The trigger points overview is attached in case you haven’t previously seen it and it has links to all the trigger points animations on Youtube, including the one for Monksleaze Clyce and Dunball.
